Awarding of ‘Yuthok Award’ was started in the year 2009 after passing the law on the ‘Rules and Regulations of Yuthok Award’ by the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine. Aim and objective of giving this award is to recognize and express gratitude to those distinguished individuals who have made special contribution in the development of Tibetan Medicine. This award is given after every three years of interval. The process to select the nominee of the award, as per the rules and regulation of Yuthok Award, begins by constituting a five-member committee from various institutions of Tibetan Medicine under the aegis of the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine. The committee works on selecting three to five nominees for the award through deliberation and submitting a report with complete profile substantiating the selection of particular nominees. The final selection of the nominee is made during the general meeting of the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine by unanimous agreement or by casting vote of secrecy.
