Central Council of Tibetan Medicine

INTRODUCTION

Our History:

Central Council of Tibetan Medicine (CCTM) was established on 5th Jan 2004 at Dharamsala, (H.P.) India. It was established after the “Tibetan Medicine Central Council Act. 2003” which was passed by the 13th Assembly of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, during its 5th session in the year 2003, with the final approval by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
CCTM with its head office, registered under the Societies Registration Act. 1860 (Reg. no. 4348/C/H/R/C) and is currently located at Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India.

Our Mission:

To Preserve, Promote and Propagate the rich tradition of Sowa-Rigpa; Tibetan Medical System.

To Protect Patients, Public and Professionals by ensuring standards Medical education and trainings.

To Prescribe  minimum standard of education in Sowa-Rigpa; Tibetan Medical system

To Prescribe Professional conduct, Etiquette and code of ethics to be observed by the Tibetan medical practitioners.

To Maintain up to date registration of Tibetan Medical Colleges/Institute, Medical Practitioner and Pharmacy.

Central Council of Tibetan Medicine consists of one member of the personal visiting physician of His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed by office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and one member of Allopathic Doctor appointed by Dept. of Health, CTA and Four members from Men-Tsee-Khang physicians (Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute) Dharamsala and Four from Non-Men-Tsee-Khang physicians, including one reserved seat for the physician of Bon Medical Tradition, Two member from the Non Tibetan physicians. Coordinators:

Coordinators of CCTM is duly appointed by the Governing member of CCTM during the general meeting and sessions held at CCTM. At present 5 regional and 5 overseas coordinators had been appointed. The aim to appoint regional coordinator is to raise awareness about CCTM and its activities, general coordination between members and CCTM office and to collect fees, donation etc. for the CCTM. Registered Members:

Under the section 9 & 10 of the Tibetan Medicine Central Council Act. 2003, CCTM has started its central registration from year 2006. Today, Five Hundred Ninety Seven (597)Tibetan Medical Practitioners has been registered under CCTM. We have a separate registration for the Friends of Tibetan Medicine and currently 103 Members from 18 different countries has been registered as a member of Friends of Tibetan Medicine.
